Stephen Keshi’s has declared that he’s finally quitting the Eagles job having waited
for so long for issues about his contract to be resolved to no avail. “I can’t
wait long again; I have missed a lot of opportunities from other countries not
even only South Africa, but even Gabon and co. I can’t wait any longer. I wish
the team well,” Keshi said.
Meanwhile former Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) Technical Committee chairman, Coach Kashimawo Laloko has advised the
federation to call-off the bluff of Stephen Keshi and his agent for demanding
N15 million before his contract will be renewed, promising to coach the Super
Eagles for free.
“Keshi and his agent want to rip-off
Nigeria. Where in Africa does a coach earn N15 million, if he cannot take N5
million, he should vacate the position for others to take the job.” according
to report from Daily Independent.
The former chief coach of The Gambia
national team insisted that he is capable of coaching the national team free of
charge adding that the NFF should not be held down by anyone as other senior
coaches can also do what Keshi achieved with the Super Eagles. Laloko who was
speaking on a radio programme monitored in Lagos noted that problems that had
surrounded Keshi’s contract were man-made and advised the football house to set
up a caretaker committee that will handle the Super Eagles matches.
“Coaches like Betrus Bewarang and
others can handle Eagles on the interim bases until normalcy is restored. The
players are already there and would need some technical guidance to get
results. I don’t think it’s something the NFF would beg anybody to do.”
He stressed that the Nations Cup
qualifiers against Congo and South Africa next month should not make anyone
lose sleep, pointing out any coach is capable of producing result out of the 23
man list NFF had already released.
